The Good News & The Bad News
A preacher stood before his congregation and said, "I have some good news and some bad news. The good news is, there is plenty of money to complete our building program. Te bad news is, it's all in your pockets."
Last evening I received an email from Evangelist Bennke, a Godly man through whom the Lord has won to Himself over 34,000,000 Africans; that is, in recent years through His crusades, that many have signed cards stating they have accepted God's gift of salvation.
In His email Brother Bennke told how, because of torrential rains during his last crusade, $90,000.00 worth of sound and lighting equipment was destroyed and must be replaced. Unfortunately, he doesn't have the money. Ouch!
His crusades are held in huge fields where anywhere from 150,000 to 500,000 people show up for just one service. Can you imagine it?
This brings to mind the truth of the joke above. The money is available in abundance but it is sealed in the pockets of God's people. If the folks that sit in the pews each Sunday didn't think they need houses with 3-4 garage doors, to own 3-5 cars, have 3-5 bathrooms and bedrooms, 5 plus TVs, imported furniture and fixtures, expensive collections of all kinds that sit on shelves and collect dust and further need several vacations to foreign lands each year (after all, everyone needs to see the World before they die, don't they?) there would be plenty of money to provide for the equipment Bennke needs and much, much more. O that God's people would wake up before it's too late.
O, it is true, not one person will be lost because of the selfishness of these Christians, but there is a price to be paid by each one who is a self-centered steward of God's wealth. I might also mention, there is obviously a whole lot of idolatry in the church! That's what He calls anything that we give a higher priority to than we give to Him.
How long will it be before judgment comes? Isaiah said, "Woe unto their soul! for they have rewarded evil unto themselves." Isaiah 3:7b
Maranatha! The Lord Jesus is soon coming for His own, very soon! Rejoice, assuming you are one of God's people! If you are not, please give your life to Him today before it is too late! You'll be so glad you did!
These editorials will not always be a daily product. However, as I am able I will endeavor to bring to writ my reflections on society.
Have the best day you have ever had and may they get progressively better every day hereafter!
